In regards to the recent press conference by Mr Weinberger, I agree that roads and sidewalks do need fixing and are in real bad shape; however, I cannot agree with the use of TIF (tax increment financing) dollars. TIF is a very unstable way of funding repairs. If something happens to the TIF district, the tax payers will be responsible for the payment of funds. If elected to mayor, I would start working on roads and sidewalks by spring, using stable funding sources and not education dollars, as I do not want to mortgage Burlington’s future.
